Warman gravel pump increase throughput
Warman heavy duty gravel pump solves sand and
gravel handling problems, increasing production by 66% and pump
life by over 70% at Carpat Agregate, Romania.
Heidelberg Cement group became the main
aggregates producer in Romania by acquiring the majority shares of
stock from 8 aggregates producing companies, disposed in the
south-central part of Romania.
Carpat Agregate SA was set up in April 2002 through the merger of the 8 aggregate companies, the company is currently operating in 12 counties, with it's headquarters located in Bucharest. It is the market leader in the production of aggregates, producing 3.5 million tonnes per year of products related to cement business. The company's business concept is to supply customers with high quality aggregates and to "build on solid bases".
Erich Opferman, Sales Engineer, Weir Minerals Romania explains the slurry pumping problems at Cornetu, "The customer bought an old suction dredger in 2002. This suction dredger's pump when new was designed to pump 250t/h aggregates, in fact it was pumping only 150 t/h aggregates, much below of the plant's designed capacity, which is 250 t/h. Wet end parts last only four months, produced 350,000.00 tones of aggregates. After four months operation, complete overhaul of pump was required, including bearings replacement."
The Warman 14/12 G-G heavy duty gravel pump was fitted with Weir Minerals A05 Ultrachrome wet end components, including a "special thickened" bowl, a high chrome iron alloy is ideally suited to highly abrasive fine slurries. Pump installed in April 2004 and now pumping 250-300 t/h aggregates, a much higher output rate than the plant's production rate. The Warman heavy duty gravel pump is specifically designed for higher head duties, long distance pipelines and high static discharge heads. These pumps are available with a choice of "Hi-Seal" expeller shaft seal or conventional packed gland.
